York in The War That Came Early[]
Peggy Druce spoke at the women's club in York in 1941, to raise money for the Democratic Party's efforts in prosecuting the war in Asia.
The meeting was held at the First Presbyterian Church. Peggy's host Loretta Conway showed her the grave of Founding Father James Smith in the church's graveyard. While this was an interesting attraction for tourists, Peggy, being a Philadelphian, was somewhat unimpressed.[1]
