Wyoming is a state in the western United States. It is bordered on the by Montana to the north, South Dakota and Nebraska to the east, Colorado to the south, Utah to the southwest, and Idaho to the west. It became the 44th state on July 10, 1890.
The majority of the state is dominated by the mountain ranges and rangelands of the Rocky Mountain West, while the easternmost section of the state includes part of a high elevation prairie region known as the High Plains. While the tenth largest U.S. state by area, Wyoming is the least populous.
In the Cretaceous period, modern-day Wyoming was the home of several species of dinosaur, including Triceratops. Fossils of the extinct species were found in the late 19th century. Due to a rip in the fabric of time, a Triceratops was brought into the year 1890, where it was promptly hunted and killed by Joe, Jake Snow, and Clancy O'Doole, who mistakenly believed the dinosaur was a green and diseased buffalo.
As the epicenter of the eruption of the Yellowstone Supervolcano, Wyoming was the hardest hit state by the initial eruption and the subsequent ash and debris thrown into the air. A state of emergency was declared in Wyoming not long after the eruption.[2] It was unclear just how many people actually survived even weeks after the event.[3]
