Katie Blackford[]
Katie Blackford was the pretty, blonde, blue-eyed daughter of Farmer William Blackford of Frankfort, Dakota. In 1937, she caught the eye of her father's first cousin Joshua Blackford, much to the amusement of her father and of his mother Flora, who were surprisingly unconcerned by the implication of incest.[1]
William Blackford[]
William Blackford (b. c. 1891) was a farmer on the outskirts of Frankfort, Dakota. His uncle Hosea Blackford was buried at the family homestead in 1937. He was close in age to his uncle's wife Flora Blackford, who asked him to visit New York City or Philadelphia. He declined, considering big cities to be too claustrophobic. William served as pallbearer for Hosea with Joshua and several national dignitaries.[2]
Benjamin Hamburger[]
Benjamin[3] Hamburger, a tailor from New York City, was the father of Flora Blackford, First Lady of the United States (1929-1933) and long time member of the United States House of Representatives. He also had four other children.
David Hamburger[]

Esther Hamburger[]
Esther Hamburger was the youngest child of Benjamin and Sarah Hamburger. She married a man named Meyer Katz.
Flora Hamburger[]

Isaac Hamburger[]
Isaac Hamburger (b. 1899) was the younger son of Benjamin and Sarah Hamburger. The Great War ended just before he would have received his conscription notice, so he did his military service in peacetime.
Sarah Hamburger[]
Sarah Hamburger was the mother of Flora Blackford, First Lady of the United States and long time member of the United States House of Representatives. She also had four other children.
Sophie Hamburger[]

Meyer Katz[]
Meyer Katz married Esther Hamburger, sister of Flora Blackford, in 1925. In March, they traveled to Washington, DC for the start of the second term of Flora's husband, Vice President Hosea Blackford.[4]
