Wesel is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is the capital of the Wesel district.
Wesel in The Hot War
By June 1951, the Soviet Union and its allies had pushed Western Allied forces into Wesel. Its proximity to Dutch border was cause for alarm for the United States and its allies. Consequently, it was one of several cities the U.S. dropped atomic bombs on in July.
