The United Nations (UN) is an international organization whose stated aims are to facilitate cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights and achieving world peace. The UN was founded in 1945 after World War II to replace the League of Nations, to stop wars between countries and to provide a platform for dialogue.
The Truman Administration pointed to American membership in the United Nations as a political success. However, UN membership did little to solve problems the US faced in Occupied Germany.
In the guise of "Beals Becker", Kelvin R. Throop went to work in the office of the general secretariat of the United Nations. As was his pattern, he quickly gave in to his impulse to write highly caustic memos and letters to various parties.[1]
