The Unicorn Legion was a legion of British volunteers who participated in the Spanish Civil War on the Nationalist side. The Legion played a role the Nationalist seizure of Madrid from the Monarchists.
Prime Minister Winston Churchill pointed to the example of the Legion to drum up support of his 1940 legislation to institute conscription.[1]
