This article lists the various minor fictional characters who appear in The Time of Troubles Cycle of the Videssos Series. These characters play, at best, a peripheral role in the series. While they were usually given a name, some weren't. Most were simply mentioned or had a very brief, unimportant speaking role that did not impact the plot, and never appeared again.

Elpidios[]

(Hammer and Anvil)

Elpidios was the prefect of Videssos the city. Some years after the deaths of Avtokrator Likinios and his sons at the hands of Genesios, Elpidios exchanged letters with Tzikaste, widow of Likinios. Genesios declared that they were plotting treason, and had Elpidios' hands and feet cut off before he was beheaded.[1]

Evdokimos[]

(H&A)

Evdokimos succeeded Goulaion as eparch of Videssos the city. Like his predecessor, he was executed for plotting against Avtokrator Genesios, and his head was displayed on the Milestone.[2]

Goulaion[]

(H&A)

Goulaion was eparch of Videssos the city. He was executed for plotting against Avtokrator Genesios, and his head was displayed on the Milestone.[3]

Isoes[]

(H&A)

Isoes was Kameas' immediate predecessor as vestiarios of the Imperial Palace of Videssos.[4]

Levkates[]

(H&A)

Levkates succeeded Evdokimos as eparch of Videssos the city. Like Evdokimos and their predecessor Goulaion, he was executed, probably for plotting against Avtokrator Genesios, and his head was displayed on the Milestone. Doulikhos succeeded him.[5]

Tarasios (Hypasteos)[]

(H&A)

Tarasios was the hypasteos of Varna. He sent a message to Maniakes, Avtokrator of Videssos, that Kubratoi raiders had just attacked his city, violating the recent treaty with Khagan Etzilios.[6]

Tzikaste[]

(H&A)

Tzikaste was Empress-Consort to Avtokrator Likinios. Some years after the deaths of her husband and sons at the hands of Genesios, Tzikaste exchanged letters with Elpidios, the prefect of Videssos the city. Genesios declared that they were plotting treason, and slew Tzikaste and her two daughters at the same spot where he'd killed her husband.[7]

Voimios[]

(The Thousand Cities)

Voimios was a mage from the Sorcerers' Collegium of Videssos. During or just prior to the Time of Troubles, Voimios discovered and cataloged the properties of the Voimios strap.[8]

Literary comment[]

Voimios' name is a near anagram/homonym of August Ferdinand Möbius (1790-1868), discoverer of the Moebius strip.
