Toby was the pet cat of Mrs. Aldiss of Thrsk, Yorkshire. In 1938, he was in a fight with a dog; Mrs. Aldiss insisted that Toby won the fight, but Toby still required ten stitches in his side. George Holley was removing those stitches when Wilf Latchett called the surgery asking for help with his mammoth, Old Bill.[1]
