"The Ring and I" is a non-fiction essay by Harry Turtledove, published in Meditations on Middle Earth (ed. Karen Haber, 2001) and reprinted in 2015's We Install and Other Stories. Turtledove discusses his fondness for J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and its profound influence on his work, in particular the Videssos Series.
