"The Girl Who Took Lessons" is a short story by Harry Turtledove. It was originally published in Playboy in August, 1988 and was later reprinted in Kaleidoscope.
The story follows the marriage of Mike and Karen Vaughan. It details their hobbies, reading for Mike and taking classes for Karen, as well as their eventual divorce when it became clear the type of lessons she was taking.
