"The Fake Pandemic" is a short story by Harry Turtledove, first published in the newest edition of Lest Darkness Fall & Timeless Tales Written in Tribute on February 16, 2021. It is set in the altered timeline of L. Sprague de Camp's 1939 novella Lest Darkness Fall, with Martinus Paduei (Martin Padway) convincing the Byzantine quaestor Tribonian to thwart the Plague of Justinian.[1]
