Policy question. There are no dates given in Alpha and Omega but it reads as if its starts in the year of publication (2019). Therefore, for things like DOB, DOD, etc. should we assume 2019 as the base line? For instance, Eric Katz is described as being in his forties so his DOB would be the 1970s. One complication is that we do not get seasons or other indications of the passage of time. However, to take down the two Muslim shrines and then build the Third Temple plus the events afterwards would take several years. Again nothing specific is given.

I'm ok with presuming the novel begins in 2019 for purposes of DOB, anyway. DOD will be harder given the lack of specific timelines. TR (talk) 04:28, July 25, 2019 (UTC)
I suppose we could assume 2020 as the start date so all DOD will be in the 2020s. Its not that things are exact. We just need to calculate from a standard baseline. ML4E (talk) 19:09, July 25, 2019 (UTC)

As a side note, Trump is mentioned by name twice, once a character comparing his lack of wealth to Trump's, the second a snide comment by a (Jewish) character that the gaudy gold leaf on the Third Temple's reconstruction, echoing Herod's, must have been done by a Trump architect. We also have a speech by an unnamed American President denouncing the dirty bomb attack on Tel Aviv with no description that would match Trump (aside from the POV thinking he wasn't a good speaker or very bright). AH? Or just Turtledove not wishing to acknowledge the weird AH we are living in? ML4E (talk) 22:05, July 24, 2019 (UTC)

Let's go with the latter--I snooped on the Amazon look inside, and found references to the Syrian President. It's plainly Assad, but since he appears to be unnamed, we won't dogmatically create an Assad page. I guess we should take the same approach to unnamed POTUS. TR (talk) 04:28, July 25, 2019 (UTC)
True, the description does fit Assad but I was going to use "Unnamed Syrian President" whenever I got around to it. ML4E (talk) 19:07, July 25, 2019 (UTC)
