Tefé (Teffé in early accounts) is a municipality in the state of Amazonas, northern Brazil, along the Amazon River. Tefé's recorded history dates back to the turn of the 17th century. Its population was 62,662 in 2014.

Tejfej was in the eastern regions of the Empire of Tawantiinsuuju. It was largely a town of leaf-and-branch huts, but a few modern Kuuskoo-style buildings protruded incongruously. Ib Scoglund's diplomatic mission went through Tejfej in 1941.[1]
