Date Setting of Novel[]
Matthew added the second sentence to:
- "Hupmobile, mentioned in passing. In the home timeline, a brand bearing this name was discontinued in 1939, 158 years before the novel's setting."
I don't recall but where exactly is the date of the story given as 2097?
Further, even if it is, I dislike such exact calculations as they give a false sense of precision. This also assumes the Home timeline is OTL future which, while plausible, I don't think is ever explicitly stated by Turtledove.
I would change this to: "In OTL, a brand bearing this name was discontinued in 1939."
Incidentally, until Matthew showed up, only Jonathan did such precise calculations. ML4E (talk) 15:29, May 18, 2019 (UTC)
