Please explain your reasons for thinking it's the monument come to life here. If it makes sense, then you may restore the category. ML4E (talk) 19:35, April 4, 2016 (UTC)

"She took the scenic route home—after all, when would she be able to talk Hermes out of his sandals again? She saw Scylla and Charybdis, there by the toe of the Italian boot, and they were as horrible as advertised. She flew over the Pyramids of Egypt. Next door, the Sphinx tried his riddle on her. "Oh, everybody knows that one," Andromeda said, and listened to him gnash his stone teeth."

The fact that the Sphinx is right next to the Pyramids, plus that it's a silly story, is my reasoning.JonathanMarkoff (talk) 19:40, April 4, 2016 (UTC)

Wow, I didn't think he'd have so good a reason. Turtle Fan (talk) 00:18, April 5, 2016 (UTC)
It isn't much of a reason. The fact this occurs beside the pyramids could mean that this event was later commemorated by a statue. That it is a silly story is a non sequitur that tells us nothing, one way or the other. That can justify my alternate explanation just as much as Jonathan's. However, "gnash his stone teeth" does suggest a stone monument come to life so I will agree to restoring the category. ML4E (talk) 15:02, April 5, 2016 (UTC)
You know, Jonathan's mixing and matching of the Great Sphinx in the Cairo article and this one on Sphinxes tempts me to remove the category once more. This article is NOT about the monument in Egypt so do NOT reference this when you mean that. ML4E (talk) 15:23, April 5, 2016 (UTC)
