I'll give it a shot. Question. Where did you get the name Shaum? The name of the river in the map included with Videssos Cycle: Volume One shows it as the "Kouphis River". ML4E (talk) 18:03, May 30, 2013 (UTC)
I don't know too much ancient history but I've always been given to understand that HT's use of the source material in Videssos was quite loose. That being the case, are literary notes saying "X is based on Y" really appropriate here? Turtle Fan (talk) 20:07, May 30, 2013 (UTC)
- I think it does. It gives me, anyway, an idea of where Turtledove is coming from. However, it shouldn't be in the body of the article as some are. I'm leaving that alone for now, to keep the info available until I'm sure it has been incorporated everywhere. Incidentally, these were plainsmen so it should be "Russian Steppe" rather than Russia in the comment. ML4E (talk) 18:18, May 31, 2013 (UTC)
