This is the first time I have had to deal with this in the story. The province of Oregon consists of OTL states of Oregon and Washington. Should I leave the link, as is, to Oregon or should I have it directed to Washington and then put identical articles in both? ML4E 03:24, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

I would leave it linked to Oregon. In the Washington entry, do a T2G subheading and say "See Oregon". It seems like we've done this elsewhere, but I can't rightly remember where right now. TR 03:30, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Got you, makes sense. ML4E 03:36, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Arthur Wellesley[]

Does the city named after him merit an article for Sir Arthur Wellesley? I know that states/provinces/nations are big enough for a person article, and ships aren't, so how do cities measure up?JonathanMarkoff (talk) 00:36, February 11, 2016 (UTC)

I'm not personally keen, although the fact that the city we know as Seattle is named for Wellesley in T2G may be worth noting somewhere. TR (talk) 01:21, February 11, 2016 (UTC)
I think that the criteria should be whether there is any significance to the name or gives insight to the timeline. If its just butterflies, then its not warranted. The other aspect would be if the namesake is referenced in the story. If someone mentioned Sir Arthur as the namesake then yes, he probably deserves an article. The story of the shilling toss (or spin to use the Briticism) for the name of West Boston is an example of what I have in mind although that particular example doesn't refer to a person. Now where did we agree to a Lit. Comm. on Arthur Wellesley? Discuss. ML4E (talk) 18:46, July 24, 2016 (UTC)

More importantly, why are we so sure it's named for Wellington? It just dawned on me: there's a Wellesley, Massachusetts that's been there since 1620. In both OTL and T2G, Portland/West Boston is already named for one MA town, it seems just as likely that in T2G, they went back to the MA well for Seattle/Wellesley. And upon further research, the OTL Wellesley, Ontario is named for Richard Wellesley, the elder brother of Arthur. So even in OTL in a country that maintained ties to the UK, Wellington wasn't the go-to for naming. TR (talk) 19:00, July 24, 2016 (UTC)
I see no need for a lit comm. Turtle Fan (talk) 21:46, July 24, 2016 (UTC)
