As I recall, the marines were Royal Marines (see the article) and not RNAM. I found that curious at the time and so remember it that way. ML4E (talk) 17:58, August 18, 2017 (UTC)
- I only remember RM and not RNAM as well. I have no idea why the authors chose that.JonathanMarkoff (talk) 19:34, August 18, 2017 (UTC)
- From what I can tell, and ML4E can correct me, many of the Commonwealth countries now don't have a Marine Corps as such, but have forces that are amphibious. The UK has the Royal Marines, but a bit of internet searching suggests no one else has that branch. So maybe, the authors kept that weird quirk, using RM rather than RNAM. - Sounds about right to me. You have to remember that the UK was the only major "blue water" naval power and its colonies (later dominions and independent countries within the Commonwealth) had more limited coastal defense (or "brown water") navies. India, for the last decade or so, has been trying expand the reach of its navy but that wouldn't apply in the T2G universe. Likewise, Canada has developed special forces units but they are based more on the SAS and US Green Berets than the RM although they do take on some limited operations that would be in the RM bailiwick.
