In OTL, there's a Roman ruin called Porolissum in just about the same place where HT's Polissum is located. I can't imagine why he felt the need to Haldweim this one.JonathanMarkoff (talk) 08:21, September 7, 2016 (UTC)

From my flipping through the book, Latin changed in several millennia. Presumably, place-name could as well. TR (talk) 15:05, September 7, 2016 (UTC)
But the changed name is used in the home timeline as well.JonathanMarkoff (talk) 08:32, September 8, 2016 (UTC)
That I can't account for. TR (talk) 15:25, September 8, 2016 (UTC)
OK, it turns out Adam Keller or whoever it was got it wrong, HT got it right!JonathanMarkoff (talk) 21:53, October 4, 2017 (UTC)

OTL sectionEdit

As far as I can tell, HT's Polissum is in the same place as the real world's Porolissum. After the recent identification of Hutchings, Georgia, I think this should be treated as another case of HT getting the name slightly wrong, and an OTL section for Porolissum should be created. Polisso will be the redirect. Is this OK?JonathanMarkoff (talk) 23:05, May 16, 2017 (UTC)

That appears to be fair and accurate. TR (talk) 03:07, May 17, 2017 (UTC)
Well, sonofagun, the wiki had it wrong all along. HT does call the ht city Porolissum and the AR city Polisso. Whoever edited the wiki back in Adam Keller's day misreported that HT called the ht city Polissum.JonathanMarkoff (talk) 21:52, October 4, 2017 (UTC)

Home timelineEdit

The city was founded from an army camp in 106 in the home timeline. In the alternate, Dacia was conquered and Romanised something like 80 years earlier, but the city ended up in the same place with the same name. I guess this isn't necessarily a goof, as camps and cities get to be where they are for specific strategic reasons like a river. As for how they got the same name, maybe there's a reason for that, or just an understood butterfly effect. Just like in State of Jefferson Stories, where Jefferson (Pacific State) got admitted to the Union nearly 20 years before it was even proposed in OTL. Anyway, it's probably not a goof that the city exists in both timelines. (But the fact that HT got the home timeline name wrong is still a goof.)JonathanMarkoff (talk) 22:43, May 17, 2017 (UTC)
