It might be advisable to rename this "Opsikion, Videssos." It shares a name with a Byzantine province that might pop up in HT's writing.Matthew Babe Stevenson (talk) 02:09, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
- We can wait until he actually does write about the Byzantine province. TR (talk) 06:22, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
- If he didn't mention the historical province in all of AoB he's unlikely to do so now. I kind of hope he does, though, because we can't justify retitling the article without it, and when I saw this on Recent Changes I couldn't remember what it was. My initial thought was that it was the "relish" half of the ancient Greek diet that Menedemos and Sostratos mention so often. Turtle Fan (talk) 14:12, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
- The rename could be justified by the fact that most people's first thought will be the Byzantine theme. We have Warren Commission (Worldwar) without any article on the OTL Warren Commission.Matthew Babe Stevenson (talk) 16:43, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
- It could be, but it won't be. The Warren Commission's investigation and report is pretty prominent in American culture. Therefore, the odds of anonymous hit-and-editors changing the article were pretty high, and so moving made sense.
- I don't think there is a word to describe how obscure Opsikion is in American culture (and I daresay the entirety of the English-speaking world). If someone who is versed enough in Byzantine history to recognize the name but oblivious enough to realize that the article pertains to a non-Byzantine town arrives in these parts, we can address the matter again. - I'm sitting in a very quiet classroom struggling not to laugh out loud at "the fact that most people's first thought will be the Byzantine theme." I mean that quite literally. Turtle Fan (talk) 18:30, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
