Truman's pilot is named Major Pesky, I don't remember whether he was given a first name or not. Could he be a historical? Medic in Armistice

The medic who treats Cade Curtis' wound in Korea is called Hawkeye. My gut reaction is that this is a MASH tribute, but I wonder whether Hawkeye was simply a generic name for medics like GI Joe was for soldiers. I don't know enough about this.JonathanMarkoff (talk) 04:18, August 4, 2017 (UTC)
