Not sure if this article is really necessary. ML4E 03:26, December 10, 2009 (UTC)
- Why not. We talk far more about the fact that Asimov created the Foundation universe in which HT played with "Trantor Falls" than we do about the story in which he showed up. With his contemporaries with whom he's collaborated, or who are fellow contributors to a shared universe, we do the same. I suppose we could do an article on JD Salinger while we're at it. I autocratically moved Mandeville to historical characters for the reasons I listed in the article: convenience and someone (or someones) wrote up the Travels and called themselves "John Mandeville". Some scholars have even been able to identify a few suspects. TR (talk) 20:45, November 24, 2013 (UTC)
And going back to the concern ML4E presented in 2009--since Mandeville is referenced specifically in the story in a way that's important to understanding the story (i.e., Mandeville got a lot wrong), this article is worthwhile. TR (talk) 20:47, November 24, 2013 (UTC)
- Interestingly enough, a few years later I created an article on Velleius Paterculus due to similar logic. He was only mentioned by HT in the "Afterword" of Give Me Back My Legions! and not in the story proper. I described this in the article on him the same way TR did here.
