Another random historical from the early days of the series. I guess we should re-read.

On a more mechanical matter: not sure how I feel about HCL coming here and having the top say "see also, HCL, JR" in light of the fact that JR actually appears in 2 out of three Col books and does things of relative importance, whereas SR is mentioned in passing in AF and promply vanishes. However, a disambig seems overkill in this instance, since JR did indeed go by JR. TR 20:48, November 8, 2011 (UTC)
- For that reason I think it's fine as it is. Turtle Fan 23:55, November 8, 2011 (UTC)
By the way, on what grounds was he considered an unofficial majority leader? Because for some time now we've been one majority leader away from creating the category. Turtle Fan 23:57, November 8, 2011 (UTC)
- It seems to have been purely by GOP fiat. The Dems had created a leadership position in 1920 when they were in the minority. In 1924, the Republicans followed suit, but from 1920-1924, Lodge had been "managing" the Senate in much the same way the formal office outlined. TR 00:13, November 9, 2011 (UTC)
- Is that strong enough to create the category, along with Robert Taft and Lyndon Johnson? I've always been annoyed that HT is preventing us from creating the office (and I have no confidence at all that Harry Reid is going to show up for Supervolcano after seeing the two summaries) but as I look over the list, I see it's pretty short on historically memorable figures.
- But on that list: On the Senate's website Lodge is not included. On most others, including Wiki, he is, with the note (unofficial) or (informal) attached. Turtle Fan 03:01, November 9, 2011 (UTC)
- I will leave the decision regarding the category up to you. I don't object to creating one, but given the "informal" thing, I don't have a problem waiting for three official ones, either. TR 16:10, November 9, 2011 (UTC)
- I think I'm gonna go for it. It might be a very long wait, and I really do want to have this category on the books. Turtle Fan 21:29, November 9, 2011 (UTC)
