Turtledove

Turtledove's own private Cardenio--All great authors have one. Turtle Fan 05:30, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

I imagine there are copies of Pulphouse floating around. The usual practise for these type of publications is for the author to get several copies of the issue as part of his remuneration so HT probably has at least one copy. Hopefully we don't have to wait for him to find out if God has a rugged sense of humour and his papers are sent to his executer before it gets reprinted. ML4E 05:39, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

I suppose we should hope for that. I'm not exactly dying to read this any which way--I have negative associations with Gilgamesh. Turtle Fan 05:50, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

So, good news--I found a copy for cheap on the internet. Free shipping and everything. It's on it's way from MN. TR (talk) 20:50, July 5, 2018 (UTC)

I wonder what this story is about. In my childhood I loved watching this short at the Smithsonian Museum's Western Cultures room. But for all we know, G&tHB is about an alcoholic sad sack literature professor and Gilgamesh is his cat.JonathanMarkoff (talk) 21:04, July 6, 2018 (UTC)
We should know in 4-21 days, I guess. And I was wrong, it was in MI. It's in IL now. TR (talk) 21:46, July 6, 2018 (UTC)

Plot summary[]

This sounds a bit similar to "The Emperor's Return." Maybe there's some kind of trope here, where the once and future king returns but then it all goes south. And now that we know it is a real Gilgamesh story, not some "Logan's Law" as I had feared, it makes me wonder why HT hasn't pushed for its reprint. Gilgamesh is quite popular among fantasy and sci fi trivialists.JonathanMarkoff (talk) 06:23, July 14, 2018 (UTC)

Not really a trope, as the similarities are too broad and plot-level, much like the basic "Nazis Won" plot shared by ItPoME and "Shtetl Days". You'll see as I put up articles.
Frankly, it hasn't aged well. I can why it hasn't been reprinted. TR (talk) 06:35, July 14, 2018 (UTC)
