I'm guessing someone read the first chapter in the PB edition of MwtIH? TR 02:26, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- More like the first 108 pages, as well as various skimmings here and there throughout the rest of the book. Jelay14 02:30, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- The bookstore put it out early? How's it look? TR 02:34, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- Alright, I guess. I was in the bookstore to determine that the Life on Mars series 1 DVD set really was released today (and it was), and just happened to spot HW out of the corner of my eye, so I decided to commence reading it. Jelay14 02:39, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Thinking about it, there were actually two coup attempts, the first while the invasion of France bogged down and went slower than expected and then a second, more extensive one after the Germans failed to capture Paris. The current article seems to be describing the first one which occurred in HW. The second occurred in W&E and resulted in gun-battles between factions as seen in Lemp's POV when he was in port. - Yeah, we haven't got an article on the second one yet. We could probably call that the 1939 Plot or something. We might want to reconsider our title of the Generals' Plot here, but I like the ring of it. TR (talk) 22:38, July 20, 2012 (UTC)
We could do that but I was thinking we might use this article and just put in sub-titles. The current article would be sub-titled "The 1938 Plot" (or whatever year it was) and then add "The 1939 Plot" as a new sub-article afterwards. This way we keep the name you like. Of course if HT gives either a name in subsequent books, we would need to split and/or rename. ML4E (talk) 20:44, July 21, 2012 (UTC)
Retitle?[]
We might want to add "(The War That Came Early)" to the title. There are perhaps a dozen events in Turtledove's canon which might be called "the Generals' Plot," some of which are OTL events.Matthew Babe Stevenson (talk) 08:44, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
- I don't see the need. People will likely come to this article from the "TWTCE" category and have the context without having it spelled out in the article name. If someone wants to create an article with the same name for a different story then the system will flag it as already existing and then we can worry about distinguishing between the two. - If I haven't commented after such a long time, assume I have no strong feelings. In fact, I don't. Turtle Fan (talk) 14:13, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
- Is "Generals' Plot" actually used in-universe? If not, that might be another argument for the disambig.Matthew Babe Stevenson (talk) 14:39, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
- I told you I have no strong feelings, why are you trying to draw me out on this topic? Turtle Fan (talk) 14:40, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
- At this stage, I think we should delete this page and fold into World War II (The War That Came Early) with a redirect. TR (talk) 16:20, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
Germany[]
I wonder if this and the series' second German coup attempt should be merged into the "Germany (The War That Came Early)" article, just as the 1941 British coup was merged into the United Kingdom.Matthew Babe Stevenson (talk) 02:55, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
- Did you think restarting the conversation from scratch would make us ignore the previous conversation from last year that is still posted above? TR (talk) 14:38, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
- Pretty weak Matthew. Turtle Fan (talk) 04:04, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
