The Federated Commonwealths of America is a cumbersome mouthful! The United States of America rolls off the tongue so much better. I wonder what the Conscript Fathers were thinking.
The Spanish translation would be Las Mancomunidades Federadas de America rather than Los Estados Unidos de America, and the French would be Les Communautés-Fédérés d'Amérique rather than Les États-Units d'Amérique, so there's no improvement in translation either.JonathanMarkoff (talk) 21:32, November 5, 2015 (UTC)

There are, but it's not remotely relevant to the FCA. HT never addresses Canada at all, or colonial wars with France, etc. So we can't rule out such an analog exists, either. While the lack of the Aztec Empire certainly means there is no entity called "Mexico", we don't know the dimensions of New Grenada. It may have grown sufficiently to look like Mexico.
