If the exile government went to Britain, wouldn't that make them Allied members? Turtle Fan 10:56, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Ethiopians in HT works[]
We have three Ethiopians in the characters list: Cepheus, Cassiopeia, and Andromeda (Greek Myth). While I suppose that's enough for a category, sadly it would seem unlikely to grow. HT has missed opportunities to acknowledge Haile Selassie as the reigning emperor (or the emperor-in-exile) in Worldwar, The War That Came Early, and several other timelines. Theoretically he could pop up in The Hot War, but HT has a habit of ignoring Africa completely beyond saying that various European powers and/or the Race have taken all of it. Only Egypt and South Africa have been relevant to HT plots.JonathanMarkoff (talk) 08:38, July 30, 2016 (UTC)
Thoughts on T2G[]
I've often scratched my head about why the Brits would join Ethiopia to India of all places. There's no logically efficient reason for that kind of arrangement when they have so many closer subdivisions in Africa itself. It just occurred to me, maybe it is a miscommunication between author and illustrator. Could it be that Dreyfuss and HT wrote "Ind." in their directions, meaning that Ethiopia remains the only independent nation in Africa, but cartographer Ellisa Mitchell misread this as "India"?JonathanMarkoff (talk) 09:17, April 16, 2018 (UTC)
- Sure, why not.
- Or, in the alternative, it's just one of those stupid decisions that we encounter all the time OTL history, and RD/HT decided that it would be a good one to drop into T2G. TR (talk) 14:46, April 16, 2018 (UTC)
Anonymous edit[]
The recent anonymous edit to include references to the country of South Sudan led me to the odd realization that this little project is older than the country of South Sudan.
- Kosovo too. And maybe East Timor: That would have been before any of us joined the wiki, but I'm not sure about Redem and Baiter and all those fools. Turtle Fan (talk) 04:36, 31 July 2022 (UTC)

- We have been at this a long time. I get unwelcome reminders of this periodically when I'll want to make a suggestion on how to improve some article or other, flip to the Talk page, and see I'd already made that suggestion in 2008. Or worse, that I'd made the opposite suggestion because I was young and foolish. Either way, I tend to let sleeping dogs lie. Turtle Fan (talk) 04:36, 31 July 2022 (UTC)
