About the red links: I think George Pickett and J. Johnston Pettigrew merit sections in References to Historical Figures in Turtledove's Work, but not their own articles, for "The Last Reunion". Some day...JonathanMarkoff (talk) 07:16, August 26, 2016 (UTC)
- Based on memory, I believe Wade Hampton III and William MacRae should also be "Hist. Ref." given their minor roles in the story. Benjamin Bunn and George Westray actually interact with Thorpe in the afterlife and can stand as articles. ML4E (talk) 15:31, August 27, 2016 (UTC)
- It's been ages since I read that story, but as I recall the relevant passage amounted to nothing more than "We were in Pickett's Charge, you know." Turtle Fan (talk) 22:56, August 26, 2016 (UTC)
- Pickett's men then argue with Pettigrew's men about which commander was more significant on that day. It's quite a charged reference.JonathanMarkoff (talk) 05:58, August 27, 2016 (UTC)
- How would you argue that Pettigrew was the key figure in Pickett's Charge? Moreover, why would you want to? "It was our fault!" "No, it was our fault!" Eh, whatever. Turtle Fan (talk) 08:05, August 27, 2016 (UTC)
By the way, why do we have Reynolds listed with Meade under commanders? As I recall, there were six Union field commanders at some point during the battle (Buford, Reynolds, Howard, Hancock, Slocum, and Meade) with the first five merely serving as placeholders till the sixth arrived on the scene (and promptly delegated the shit out of his duties back to Hancock and Slocum, but mostly Hancock). If we're not going to list all of them (and we really shouldn't), we should just list one. I might feel differently if Reynolds had played some key role in HT's canon, but he doesn't even have a Hist Ref, much less an article. Turtle Fan (talk) 23:03, August 26, 2016 (UTC)
