Dr. Stewart Gordon was the surgeon who ran Ward N of the hospital in Mound City, Illinois during the American Civil War. Gordon saw to the care of several Negro soldiers who survived the Battle of Fort Pillow. He informed them when two members of the Joint Committee on the Conduct of the War would be arriving and why they were coming to talk to the survivors.[1]
