
Sitka (Tlingit: Sheetʼká), formerly Novo Arkhangelsk (Ново-Архангельск or Новоaрхангельск) under Russian rule, is a unified city-borough located on Baranof Island near the southeastern extremity of the U.S. state of Alaska. As of the 2010 census, the population was 8,881.

Sitka was a city in Russian Alaska, near the border of the North American Union province of Vancouver. It was not uncommon for Americans to travel over the border and spend money there.[1]
