Shqiperi was a country on the Nekemte Peninsula. Originally founded by Dalmatian settlers, the country was always very weak, and passed between several empires over the years. Its people spent much of their time engaged in bloody feuds between families.
During the Nekemte Wars, the Shqipetari achieved independence from the Hassockian Empire. They desired a king, and were considering nominating Prince Halim Eddin, nephew of the Hassockian Atabeg. Halim Eddin was hesitant to accept the crown of the former colony, because he feared his uncle would regard such a move as treasonous. While Halim Eddin dickered over what to do, a Schlepsigian circus performer named Otto of Schlepsig saw a picture of the Prince, who strongly resembled him. Accompanied by his circus buddy Max of Witte, Otto traveled to Shqiperi and won the hearts of the right people, and was accepted as Halim Eddin, their chosen king.

Shqiperi is the indigenous name of Albania, on which the fictional kingdom is closely based.
