Sasha was a Soviet soldier killed in the war in Afghanistan in the 1980s. His body was returned home, mutilated so thoroughly that a guard was posted by the coffin to prevent Sasha's parents from opening it and being traumatized.
Vladimir was the younger brother of Sasha's best friend.
