Interstate 10 (I-10) is a transcontinental Interstate Highway in the United States, stretching from Santa Monica, California, on the Pacific Ocean, to Jacksonville, Florida. The segment of I-10 in California runs east from Santa Monica through Los Angeles and San Bernardino before crossing into the state of Arizona. In the Greater Los Angeles area, it is known as the Santa Monica Freeway and the San Bernardino Freeway, linked by a short concurrency on I-5 (Golden State Freeway) at the East Los Angeles Interchange.

Santa Monica Freeway in The Valley-Westside War[]

After the Valley beat the Westsiders and occupied Westwood, a defensive line was established along the Santa Monica Freeway. The freeway had been an elevated highway over the city roads when the Russian-American War occurred in 1967. Either the war, earthquakes or neglect over the next 130 years caused portions of the freeway to collapse. The Valley soldiers were posted on the portions that remained standing since it gave them the high ground while the rubble of the collapsed structures blocked easy advance for enemy soldiers.

Dan's company took up position on an elevated portion just west of Westwood Boulevard.[1]
