Sally Simpkins was a citizen of the West Coast People's Democratic Republic. She resided in a one-bedroom apartment in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, California with her parents, Charlie and Lucille Simpkins, and her older brother Nikita.
Sally was eleven years old when her father began his series of rebellious behaviors. The Party responded by acting against Charlie's family. When Sally turned twelve, she was not allowed to join the Kittens, (a group made up exclusively of girls that served as a youth wing of the Party) that her father was an unreliable. When she asked him why he was an unreliable, he responded that he wasn't, but that they (the Party leaders) were. She responded that there were more of them.[1]
