SS Minnesotan in "Last Flight of the Swan of the East"[]
The SS Minnesotan was an American cargo ship during the Great War. In September 1914, she was bound for Rangoon carrying cargo for the neutral British. The Germany leviathan Emden contacted the Minnesotan on September 8. Emden's captain, Karl von Müller, did not seize the cargo so as to avoid angering the British. He did, however, compel the Minnesotan to receive several prisoners the Emden had captured from other ships in the previous days.[1]
