The Royal Hawaiian Air Force was one of the many grandiose ideas thought up by King Stanley Owana Laanui during his brief rule over the Japanese puppet-Kingdom of Hawaii. In order to keep him happy, the Japanese High Command authorized the transfer of half a dozen outdated Hayabusas to the islands for the project. Unfortunately, due to the non-existence of any native Hawaiian pilots, plus the unwillingness of King Stanley to allow Japanese to fly the planes, the Royal Hawaiian Air Force literally never got off the ground. When Mitsuo Fuchida heard of the idea he didn't bother to hide his scorn at the thought of the plan, believing that King Stanley was dangerously overstepping his authority. Although he didn't object to the plan, he would have had Stanley demanded Zeroes.
