The Marquisate of Rivaroli was a small territory between Algarve and Valmiera. It was the source of frequent disputes between these two nations, and features a mixture of Kaunian and Algarvian residents. Algarve owned it up until the Six Years' War, after which Valmiera annexed it. However, while Algarve occupied Valmiera during the Derlavaian War, Algarve reannexed the Marquisate and held it until the last year of the war. With Algarve's defeat at the end of the war, Valmiera once again annexed Rivaroli.

Literary Comment[]

Rivaroli parallels the Alsace-Lorraine region, possession of which has been passed between France and Germany several times in the last few centuries.
