Rhisoulphos was the father of the Videssian Empress-Consort Dara, who was wife to the Avtokrators Anthimos III and Krispos. He was a nobleman who joined Petronas in the latter's rebellion against Krispos. Rhisoulphos later changed his allegiance back to Krispos, though he lived under a cloud afterward. He plotted with Patriarch Gnatios to take the throne if Krispos died in battle during the latter's war against Harvas Black-Robe in Kubrat, but was uncovered, tonsured, and immured in a remote monastery on the far side of the Videssian Sea, where he died sometime prior to the uprising of the Thanasioi.
