Resaca is a town in Gordon County, Georgia, United States, with unincorporated areas extending into Whitfield County. Resaca lies along the Oostanaula River. The population was 544 at the 2010 census. In 1864, during the American Civil War, the Battle of Resaca was an important stop on General William Sherman's march toward Atlanta.

William Sherman's forces attacked Joseph Johnston's Army of Tennessee at Resaca after having previously attacked them at Rocky Face Ridge and forcing a Confederate retreat despite suffering heavy losses due to the AK-47 repeating rifles the rebels were now armed with. Resaca went much the same, with Johnston eventually giving ground but only after Sherman had suffered heavy losses.
