Reno

Reno is a city in the U.S. state of Nevada. It is located in the Northern portion of the state, approximately 36 miles (58 km) from Lake Tahoe. Known as "The Biggest Little City in the World", Reno is famous for its casinos and as the birthplace of Caesars Entertainment Corporation. It is the county seat of Washoe County, located in the northwestern part of the state. The city sits in a high desert at the foot of the Sierra Nevada and its downtown area (along with Sparks) occupies a valley informally known as the Truckee Meadows.

Reno is the most populous Nevada city outside of the Las Vegas–Paradise, NV MSA, with an estimated population of 233,294 in 2013, and is the third most populous city in the state after Las Vegas and Henderson.

The people of Reno were generally sympathetic to the Pacifican cause, however they did not have enough clout to convince the rest of Nevada to join the new nation.

Heber Wilson, the Nevada Governor, had once been a Reno city councilman.[1]

Reno's semipro baseball team, the Gamblers, played in the Denver Post semipro tournament in June, 1934.[2]

Some unknown intrepid and/or snoopy person in Reno tried to unlock Brot technology without their oversight. It led to an accident that reduced half the city to a mirror-surfaced crater.[3]

Reno in The War That Came Early[]

Herb Druce was summoned by the United States government to an assignment in Nevada in 1943. As Reno happened to be on his route, he stopped there to get a "postcard divorce" from his wife Peggy back in Philadelphia. Peggy was dismayed by this abrupt notice, which came to her by mail back at home.
