"Reincarnation" is a short fantasy story by Harry Turtledove, originally published in Amazing Stories in May 1990, and was reprinted in Reincarnations, published by WSFA Press in October 2009. At four sentences, it is probably Turtledove's shortest work.

The story is essentially an extended joke based on the concept of reincarnation and a parsing of the word. After studying the subject of reincarnation for years, Harrison Smedley announces to his wife that it really happens. Then, before she can stop him, he dives out their 15th-floor apartment window to his death. The next day, Smedley returns as a carnation flower, and is purchased and worn as a boutonniere.
