The Reconstruction Alliance was an ultra-right wing Jewish group in Israel — or as Eric Katz put it, it was a feather on the tip of the right wing. The Alliance wanted to reconstruct the Third Temple and was angry the Israeli government hadn't blasted the Dome of the Rock off of the Temple Mount after 1967.

In the meantime, they began to prepare for the day by constructing religious paraphernalia based on various Bible verses. This included various altars, solid gold menorahs, gold and silver tools for handling pyres and ashes of sacrifices, and vessels for religious washing and spilling sacrificial blood. All this was on display in a museum the Alliance had set up in the Jewish quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. The museum also had a large model of the Second Temple covered in gold leaf and a reconstruction of the Ark of the Covenant.[1]

Literary comment[]

The Reconstruction Alliance is modeled on the real-life Temple Institute.
