Punch was a British comic magazine which was published from 1841 to 1992, with a brief revival between 1996 and 2002. Punch made use of humorous illustrations, and helped establish the term "cartoon".

Punch in "The Green Buffalo"[]

In 1890, Punch ran a cartoon depicting Othniel Marsh as sort of animal trainer putting fossil skeletons[1] through their paces while standing on a Triceratops skull. Amused, John Bell Hatcher shared the cartoon with Joe, who declined Hatcher's offer to look at the magazine. Had Joe looked, he might have realized that the "green buffalo" he'd eaten with Hatcher was actually a Triceratops.
