Prista was a Videssian town at the tip of a peninsula jutting south from Pardraya. It was cut off from the rest of the Empire by the Videssian Sea. Among its other uses, it made a great penal colony. Generals and other worthies convicted of treason, who were spared the death penalty by some extenuating circumstance, often "discovered" a religious calling to serve as monks to Phos at the monastery at Prista.

Literary comment[]

Prista's geography and reputation as a place of exile appear to be based on Kherson in the Byzantine Empire.
