Prince George British Columbia 2011-1-

Prince George, with a population of 70,981, is the largest city in northern British Columbia, Canada, and is known as "BC's Northern Capital". Situated at the confluence of the Fraser and Nechako Rivers, and the crossroads of Highway 16 and Highway 97, the city plays an important role in the province's economy and culture.

The city appears to have been indirectly named for King George III of the United Kingdom.

Prince George in The Two Georges[]

Prince George was the gateway town into the northwestern regions of the province of Vancouver. In 1995, Colonel Thomas Bushell, along with his companions, traveled by train from Wellesley to here and then changed trains to continue on to Prince Rupert on their way to Skidegate.[1]

Bushell's investigation lead him to The Six Nations. To get there, he returned to Prince George by train in order to change to the Northern Rockies Special and continue on to Regina.[2]
