Pineville, North Carolina, was the birthplace of President James K. Polk, who lived before the United States were divided. In 1944, Confederate President Don Partridge officially surrendered to United States General Irving Morrell in Pineville, thus ending the Second Great War in North America, and the existence of the CSA as a nation.
