Paul Tilak was the driver of the trail beast Hannibal in Prem Chand's train. Like Chand, Tilak was the grandson of an elephant-driver from India. In 1782, he joined Chand's race with Richard Trevithick's Iron Elephant, and participated in rescuing the Iron Elephant's crew from a sim ambush.
Unlike Chand, Tilak seemed rather indifferent to the idea of his hairy elephant being replaced by a steam engine.
