The Oceanview was the highest class brothel in Honolulu during the Second Great War. It wasn't a gaudy whorehouse but had an air of quiet elegance since it catered to senior naval officers. It was owned by Maggie Stevenson.

In 1941, Sam Carsten was given use of the place "for old time's sake" by Stevenson. The bouncers were reluctant to let him in since he was a lowly lieutenant but came to attention when he showed them Stevenson's business card. He wasn't rushed and had an excellent meal with good liquor before selecting a brunette named Louise. Carsten couldn't figure out the source of his good luck other than the idea Stevenson was feeling sentimental.
