Nikolai Vasiliev (1900-1944) was a Soviet brigadier general during World War II and Race Invasion of Tosev 3. His unit was overrun by German forces near Pskov early in the war, and, along with Aleksandr German, he commanded guerrilla operations against German forces in the region. After the Race's Conquest Fleet landed, German and Vasiliev began cooperating with German commander Kurt Chill in holding the Race out of the area. German and Vasiliev, recognizing that Chill was senior to them and had more experience commanding such actions, submitted to his command, although only under the condition that a group of stranded British fliers, led by George Bagnall, would be the final arbiters of any decision. Nonetheless, the relationship between the Russians and Chill was tumultuous at best.
Vasiliev was killed when Lizard rockets hit the Krom, the ancient castle of Pskov that served as headquarters, crushing him and Chill. This sudden decapitation of both Russian and German leadership caused both factions to prepare to fight each other again, prompting the British to leave Pskov.
