Nephele was a centaur who lived in the woods near Thessalonica. When the satyr Ampelus befriended George the shoemaker, he took George to meet with Nephele and her mate Crotus. George soon learned that Nephele was indefinably old, and had been alive before the Incarnation of Jesus.
